Fitness takes the biscuit (70kcals).

After a number of years sitting in front of a computer instead of jumping up and down on stage, I started to notice the toll of one too many “Special” business meetings and realised when I got back from the US that I was up to 171kg.

A mixture of beer, soda, eating out and not moving around a lot got me there over the course of 3-4 years and mostly I felt fine; but its like not wearing a tie into David Jones, you get different service from everyone around you.

In Australia, USA and Europe, it is so easy to input more calories than you need. You have to basically have strategies for avoiding getting fat.

And you have to do it slowly otherwise you get:

  • Loose Skin
  • Physical/Medical Problems
  • You don’t change your habits and you just put it on again.
  • After your death, you are randomly sighted at gas stations.

I have been doing aerobics now for about a year and a half and working with my trainer. The result is that I have gained a lot of muscle in an attempt to burn more fat and am quite fit. I'm still bigger than I want to be though and have embarked on a 2010 course of:

  1. Aerobics (Body Attack/Step)
  2. Morning Weight, Stretching and Boxing
  3. Cycling 3 Hours each Sunday.
  4. Continuing my Trumpet Gig Schedule and Practice.
  5. Upping my protein and getting rid of fat.
  6. Walking or cycling everywhere possible.

I've done pretty well on changing my eating habits, giving up Sodas and Beer, moving restaurant meals to special occaisons, swapping to black coffee and not skipping breakfast like I used to. I still sit in a chair for a living but I move around a lot more at other times and have increased my activity basically fitting greater movement into my lifestyle.

Recently I got a check up at the Doctors and found that my health is pretty good due to the exercise.

Let's see how it goes into 2010 and good luck to you as well with your health.
