Here are some reviews from the music world.

Trumpet and Arts Reviews

“Hey mate Great f*ck*ng Trumpet! Any time we get a gig in Sydney you're welcome to play!”
Rockabilly Band Leader at a recent jump up..

“After member introductions, the band dispersed and walked off stage, leaving John Hardaker and Virgil Reality alone together to finish the night with Flamenco Sketches. This was the quietest piece of the night and the room stilled under its mood. The twinned flutes of Crystal Moloney and Rob Woodward countered the trumpet in the “spanish” section of Miles’ aching melody, rising together to play a double solo before the trumpets return. In a sense, this was the most successful piece of the evening, if one takes Kind of Blue’s overriding achievement as mood - as shrinking the universe down for a few minutes to fit a trumpet bell.”
Kind of Blue Gig Review.

“glad you had fun- was great having you tooting away V. it was a fun night wasn't it ? you brought a big touch of the tijuana brass to the evening and the hombres from uncle sounded positively tex mex with you and your horn on board. already looking fwd to the next time”
Big Warehouse Party Gig.

“Great to meet you last night mate, great set, awesome chops!
Looking forward to some more sets with you
Cheers”

“Also, a big thank you for Sunday! The owners were very impressed (they are difficult to impress trust me) and would love to get you down in the future so I will be in contact re January and onwards.”
Entertainment Manager Well Known Hotel in Glebe

“Great music, John
Needless to say, I was expecting the best, and it was better than that. Especially when everyone in the group was not only a fine musician but were playing every note with such enjoyment. 'Soul' is a bit of a cliche, but it was there all the time. Equinox....how great to dig that brilliant Coltrane mood piece. You should be proud of the band and the personal achievement you have worked so hard at. You'd kill em' at the Basement. How about it?”
DJ - 2RRR

“i guess the abiding memory for me will be "flamenco sketches" - the most lugubrious and moody piece we performed; arranged pretty much as a duet for me and virgil's trumpet with some flute and sop sax harmonies in the "spanish" section of the melody. i truly expected this to be the number where most people would go for a bar/smoke/toilet break. but no one moved. they were held by the beauty of the piece - a tribute to miles and bill evans and also to virgil's burnished trumpet tone. just beautiful.”
Band Leader Jazz Group

“Thanks to Jason for supplying us with his super funky cheesin beats!
Thanks to Virgil Reality for his Jamin horn!”
Owner of Big Newtown Party Venue

“Thanks Virgil,
Mate i just want to really sincerely thank you for all your help this year. Pleasure to work with you and all the clients have really loved your contributions to their songs (its great seeing the excited look on their face as they hear that extra touch of class).”
Recording Studio Producer

“A couple of my mates didn't get a chance to compliment you on your playing - coupla hard to please bastids too, so there you go”

“Hey Virg,
I saw you play with Lounge Act at the Basement on Tuesday 22nd July!!!
I would just like to say how great the brass section was!!! Great work mate!”
DJ Friend

“Hi Virgil, thanks for that. I have really enjoyed playing with you, I love your soloing and your horn section writing. I hope we play more in future too.”
Tenor Sax Friend

“very evocative, excellent research, passionate and absorbing. your writing is good and propulsive - is that the word? it moves thru the story well, taking the reader with it.”
Creative Director Design Company

“Hi Virgil, thanks for the excellent gig last night. Sorry I didn't make it until the very end - I saw a fair bit of Yellow Jersey, and liked what you guys were doing. Anyway, nice work, and good to spend some time with you”
Band Leader

“well, last night the JHD played for the first time with the horn section - virgil on trumpet and justin on alto. and it was a buzz. it could not have worked - the two could have taken a dislike to each other or, even worse, tried to show off and "cut" each other (as a sometimes-rock-guitarist i know that crap only too too well). but from the word go they did it right - combined as one strong voice during the ensemble parts and blew freely during their solos. they even linked up to improvise some little riffs and stabs under my solos which really lifted it. not bad for one (!!) rehearsal.”

Well,
You HUFFED, and you PUFFED, and you BLEW THE HOUSE DOWN!!!
I was delighted when the audience demanded a reprise encore (a First for [----] Caberet) because, like them, I wanted to hear you guys blow some more!
Your enthusiasm and commitment to the project, your willing adjustment to your busy schedule to work the part up, and your barn-burning performance on Show Night brought me, the band and everyone in the room such delight, it was a joy and a privilege to be on stage with you.
I hope you enjoyed the ride as much as I did, and I’m keeping your contact details handy in anticipation of Caberet IV !
With great respect, admiration, affection and heartfelt thanks,

Exceptional gig Virgil,
Thank you so much for playing. You guys were magic! rgds x
Happy Friend from his Wedding where ElDuende played the reception.

Thanks for the session today, it was great.
Recording Studio Manager.

Dear Virgil,
Thanks so much for the mouthpiece, it's fantastic, I wouldn't have thought a mouthpiece could make so much difference. Seems I can go from note to note more fluently than before which I can only guess is because there is more air passing through the valves?
Cheers and thanks again.
