Salgo Catalogue

Features

  • The site contains general content about the company.
  • The site contains all the same content as the traditional printed catalogue with details and pictures of the products displayed. Products are loaded from the backend system into the web database via XML.
  • Customers can log into the site. When users are logged in their role and company are displayed as well as tools based on their role. When users are registered they get an email showing their user name and password. The site is user based and has full session management across the website.
  • The site contains admin screens for editing and adding customer, product and other data, however all data is connected to backend systems via XML.
  • Customers can create multiple lists so they can order when and what they need. From any list a customer can create an order, edit that order and submit it to to be processed. When they do they get an email showing and confirming their order.
  • All screens contain prices that are visible to the customer and their actual price is displayed calculated based on their login. This includes discounts and specials that are customer specific.
  • When customers are using the online catalogue and are logged in the system they can add items to their current list (displayed in the information bar) without leaving the current view or causing a page refresh. The cart icon is replaced by a tick and this tick is persistent based on the current list so the customer knows what is on their list already. This is a use of AJAX technology.
  • The site contains a full keyword search which is accurate based on the current data of indexed content (product information).
  • Direct submission of order to backend ordering and warehouse fulfillment system via XML (Navision End handled by HandsOnSystems/XML Format and Delivery beingVirgil.com).
  • AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) update of list and ordering screens (this means there is no page refresh required on list and ordering screens).
