This job was really a lot of fun. Allan Mesilane drew a sketch of how he wanted the scene set and explained the types of creatures etc. Our photo studio PhotoManifesto actually built the igloo and the shower pole for the shot (and the canoes). Now it would probably be 3D modelled.
So we dressed up various agency personnel and kids in their Eskimo gear and Mark and Linsday took the shots. I then went to the online stock library to get the appropriate shots of various landmarks and animals. From these materials I built the scene in photoshop.
It is important to mention that the background, ocean, ice, mountains and lighting is all completely built out of separate images. All other elements such as reflections in the water, perspective, snow on things and shadows are all in photoshop.
